Educational Drama Club Enhancing Social Skills
Adding to our innovative and progressive techniques, we are proud to showcase our newest program, Educational Drama Club Enhancing Social Skills.
The EDCESS program consists of four modules; Communicating, Body Language, Emotions, and Teamwork.
- Drama is an evidence-based use of acting interventions to accomplish individualized social skills goals.
- Drama interventions can be designed to meet developmental goals, manage stress, improve communication and mobility, and provide unique opportunities to practice job skills.
- Drama Club is fun and interactive. Providing a stage for participants to build self confidence, social skills, body language and communication skills.
- Drama Club uses skits and drama games to teach and deliver desired learning and outcomes.
Teens and Adults with special needs can benefit greatly from participating in drama club. Educational Drama Club Enhancing Social Skills is available on Wednesday afternoons.
Art in Parts
Art in Parts is a new innovative program based on the theories of Art Therapy.
This nine weeks program allows participants to explore a variety of art techniques in a safe and fun environment. This course will culminate in an art show for families and friends. Art in Parts is supported by a generous grant from the Beaches Community Foundation of Northeast Florida.
Sports and Leisure
Possabilities Plus is in the planning stages of building sports and leisure activities.
While we are limited in space, we are not limited in enthusiasm or ideas. This month, one of our board members pulled together a team of our exceptional individuals to walk/run a 5K for Autism Awareness. We hope to continue with a walking/running club. We have recently received a donation of two trikes from the HEAL Foundation to help our participants learn independence through riding. These are just a few of the activities we are considering.
Life Skills
Life skills help individuals navigate the intricacies of the daily demands brought on through daily living.
PossAbilities Plus hosts ongoing direct instruction, hands-on life skills classes that include: banking, emergency preparedness, mobility and transportation, health and hygiene and many more.
Unlimited Room Repurposing
At PossAbilities Plus we care about the earth and our resources.
“Upscale resale” is not only about selling the best used merchandise, it is about re-purposing used items into new and creative items.
Discovering hidden talents and fostering creative outlets can be developed into employment opportunities. At PossAbilities Plus we recognize that not all individuals are on a path to traditional employment. However, participants who demonstrate a talent for creating their own products, can sell them at Unique Boutique. Many participants have learned to sew and create our one of a kind t-shirt shopping bags.
Just imagine old, torn jeans becoming a one of a kind handbag and old flower pots becoming a birdbath. The possibilities are endless.
Building Better Jobs Skills Through Music Therapy
We believe in innovative and progressive techniques. In collaboration with Connecting Through Music, PossAbilities Plus has created a three module, adaptive job skills program delivered through music therapy. Module one focuses on communicating on the job. Module two focuses on executive function skills on the job. Module three focuses on reliability. Participants are presented with a certificate for each module completed.
